TOUR: Hawaii's Plantation VillageTake a step back in time as we journey together on a guided tour of Hawaii’s Plantation Village in Waipahu (Village), HI. You will have the chance to learn and experience how your ancestors may have lived back on Hawaii’s sugar plantations.
The Village tells the story of life on Hawaii’s sugar plantations and includes restored buildings and replicas of plantation structures such as the plantation store, infirmary, bathhouse and manager’s office. They share the stories of Hawaii’s diversified cultures including Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Okinawan, Portuguese and Puerto Rican. The 25 authentic plantation homes and structures on the premises feature personal artifacts, clothing, furniture and art placed in their original settings. You may also get to see unusual plants brought in by immigrants from their native lands. Our tour will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Hawaii’s Plantation Village (HPV), 94-695 Waipahu Street. The tour starts at 10am so we will need to be there by 9:45 to check-in. The walking tour will last approximately 1 hour. RSVP and payment are required; no walk-ins allowed. Ample free parking is available at the location. All attendees must bring a valid Hawaii driver’s license or other form of valid ID to qualify for kamaaina rate. This event will be subsidized by the Honolulu Rose Society so your cost will be $10 per person. This tour is limited to the first 15 members and we will take reservations on a first-come-first-serve basis. For now, since it is for only 15 members, we are asking that only registered HRS members sign-up first and if space is still available, then we can include guests you may want to bring. Please note, depending on interest, we may be able to arrange for a second tour that day; pending the availability of another tour guide. After the first 15 signups, we will put all others on a waiting list. No Shows or Cancellations after September 11, 2023 will not be refunded. |
